I don't get vanity plates either. I saw one the other day for something like #1 mom. I just though to myself--how stupidly self-serving.

Yes, I was behind a BMW SUV once in a drive thru. The vanity plate said "Beamerr." I actually texted a pic of it to my husband, it was so ridiculous.

If they were free I'd think they were kinda cool.

Actually paying to let everyone know you are tricky and different is just sad and reeks of trying too hard.

DH and I make them up all the time and try to figure them out/what they mean... remember that old show 'bumper stumpers' I think it was called?... awesome.

I have a vanity plate because I could not remember the license plate on my blue minivan, and I could never figure out which one was mine in a sea of blue minivans. If they gave minivans the regular 3 letter-3 number plates, I think I could have remembered, but for some reason all of those numbers gave me a mental block.

I went to HS with a kid who got a new truck for his 16th birthday. His parents got a plate that said MYF150 for it. We joked that it was so he wouldn't confuse HIS F150 with all the other F150s in the parking lot. The kid was kinda dumb, and it being a private school in the south, there were lots of pickups.

I love making fun of vanity plates! I don't know which are my favorite- the ones that say something like "nervdoc" so we all know what you do for a living? The ones that say "gr8m0m" so we know you only consider yourself a mom? The ones that say "c1assof81" so we know you're old? It's a special kind of person that would get a vanity plate. God bless them.

Once upon a time, our neighbor got a new car. Not only a new car, but a red car. Not only a red car, but a convertible. Not only a new, red, comvertible, but one with a vanity plate that said Joe's Dad.

Joe was four. I asked my dad if that was weird and he said, "Some people have too much money and have no idea what to do with it."
I always think of that when I see what appear to me to be ridiculous displays of money.

I was behind a very flashy looking Mercedes. Don't know the model, but it was a very nice looking big car. It stands out even in a sea of luxury vehicles. Fine. But the license plate was "how 1 roll." (Modified slightly to confound google). What's the point of that? We already know how you roll.....
