That's funny, Jeff, because I distinctly recall you calling some posters anti-Semites in a forum some time back that started out as highly critical of Israel and quickly got out of hand.

FWIW, I'm not Jewish but am married to a Jew and I loathe and despise Lieberman. As does my spouse.

I'm guessing, though, that your accuser was ham-handedly trying to make the point that s/he believes Republicans are unfairly tarred with racism accusations when they criticize Obama with what they believe are non-racial accusations.

Those types of accusations do happen often on DCUM--not all the time but on a very frequent basis.

Are you talking about outside of the political forum? Because I personally am shocked by the casual anti-Semitism I have seen in other forums when questions come up about holiday celebrations in schools, bar/bat mitzvah etiquette, and other similar topics. I don't see anything remotely anti-Semitic in what Jeff posted, though.

I agree with this. Never thought Jeff was antisemitic but do think there are a lot of other people on the forums who are. Especially happens around Christmas.

I'm Jewish (culturally, not current religious practice, I'm an agnostic-atheistic-Judeo-Christian-ZenBuddhist-Secular Humanist).

I also think that Joe Lieberman is a despicable piece of shit.

Couldn't have said it better than 9:24. To accuse you of being anti-Semitic considering the content of your remark is not only bizarre, to quote another poster, but a huge leap of logic. A lot of people who post on this site seem to have a very black and white view of things. I'll probably get called a racist for saying that.

I'm betting the poster who called you an antisemite is a non- Jewish republican. He probably supports Israel too, but only because they are in conflict with Muslims.

I don't follow your political comments, but if you've made statements in defense of the Palestinians, you'll automatically be criticized for taking the wrong side. And then any criticism you have of Jewish political figures will not bode well with the DCUM masses.

too much brain washing with religion

hmm, as a conservative who's seen your blistering attacks on those to your right there's a bit of irony here. I know it's not the same but directionally there's a parallel.

It is a ridiculous allegation. I liken it to allegations of being unamerican and unpatriotic if you disagree with certain things.9:24 said it well.

It's only anti-Semitic if you accept the premise that any criticism of any Jewish person, even for reasons having nothing to do with religion or heritage, is anti-Semitic. Which is, of course, ridiculous.

Posters, I meant to write

It's societal.

You can't see that?

DCUM is not filled with the best and the brightest, Jeff. Poster think they're intelligent, but until they start to examine gray territory, critical thinking is not a skill they possess. And with the educational system deteriorating, it will only get worse.

How many race wars have you seen on this forum? too many to count, eh? same thing

In case you can't figure out why, it's because I wrote this in regard to Republicans' use of the filibuster and the Democrats' inability to invoke cloture:

"Because one of the votes upon which the Democrats relied was Joe Lieberman, they were always held hostage by him. He had famously not supported Obama during the 2008 election and appears to have enjoyed being an obstacle to the President."

Here is an example of Lieberman doing exactly what I say:

Joe Lieberman: I'll block vote on Harry Reid's plan
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1009/28788.html

That's in October 2009. Here he is again in December 2009:

Health Care Reform In Peril; Lieberman Threatens Filibuster Over Medicare Buy In

Can anybody explain how what I wrote was anti-Semitic? Has it really come to the point that you cannot even state a true fact involving a Jew without being called anti-Semitic? Is there a way I could have correctly explained the situation in the Senate without being anti-Semitic given this definition of anti-Semitism? I am really beside myself. I am used to be called an anti-Semite for supporting the rights of Palestinians or defending Lebanese. I realize that you cannot discuss the Middle East in the US without risking being compared to Hitler. That goes with the territory. But, all I am doing is describing a situation in American politics.

Sorry for this rant, but this is getting ridiculous.
