I'm Rachel with Redfin. I apologize that our Facebook integration feature is causing you problems and that the way it happens was unclear. We do enable users to sign into Redfin through Facebook because it's fast and easy, and we are testing new ways for our users to share homes they've favorited on our site with friends using Facebook. Redfin won't post on your wall without your permission - at one point when you signed into Redfin through Facebook, there was a pop-up message asking your permission for Redfin to post on your wall, but you can always change that setting by going to http://www.redfin.com/myredfin/favorites and disabling Redfin's ability to post on your Facebook wall. As for the posts already on your wall, you can delete them from your Facebook timeline. Here's a link to Facebook's instructions for that: https://www.facebook.com/help/wall.

I don't think it's just Redfin....I just looked at my FB profile and found that I had "liked" a lot of things that I don't remember liking...this could get embarrassing....

If you already have a Facebook account, you can now use it to sign in to Redfin. It's faster and easier, plus it will let you see which of your other friends has joined the Redfin crowd. To do this, we collect your basic publicly-viewable Facebook information, as well as your Facebook email address, and permission to post to your Wall. We'll also give you the option to use your public Facebook photo as your profile photo on our website.

OP here--I promise you I am not making this up, nor did I do something by accident. All you have to do is go to Redfin and check out their new FAQs. There is now one about their alliance with Facebook and who to contact if you have concerns about data privacy. Below is the response I got from Redfin

While you may not have had my experience, consider yourself lucky and now warned.

Trust me, I have tried everything to try to get this random house with its listing price hidden on my profile page--no go. You can NOT unlike it via the redfine site. Nor can you 'hide' the like via the normal facebook privacy features. Interestingy enough, by following the facebook directions, I've been able to hide the only 2 other likes I ever had on my profile. But, for whatever reason, the redfin one remains.

To the poster who said 'no big deal' I ask whether you really want facebook acquaintences (including boss/coworkers etc) knowing the price ranges of houses you are looking at (or knowing that you plan to move potentially far away from your current job). Even if I only provide partial access to my profile, everybody can still see this like (I asked a few people with different levels of access to my profile to let me know if they still saw it after I hid my likes and they all did).

Total bummer.

I'm sure redfin didn't do that to you - you must have clicked something by accident. I have been going on redfin and FB together every single day for EVER it seems like, and this has never happened to me.

Interesting...I've spent a couple of hours over the last few nights logged into FB and browsing on RF and this has not happened to me.

You should be able to "unlike" it from your FB page

You can change your settings so that any "notices" from redfin are only seen by you. Thus, really it doesn't get posted.

I didn't even know that redfin and facebook connect. This is yet another reason I check facebook for a few minutes every few months and nothing more.

I'm not exactly sure how, but I was checking out houses on Redfin while logged into Facebook, and somehow a house that I randomly took a look at now appears on my facebook as a 'like.' I never 'liked' it, only looked at the pictures while logged into both facebook and redfin.

I've tried everything to get rid of it (i don't even like the house and now it is a permanent like on facebook). I am so mad at Redfin as it created an auto like without my permission.

So, beware if you use Redfin while you are logged into Facebook as they are trading data across the sites and your profile may get peppered with houses you've been looking at. I feel like its a huge breech of data privacy but that is another story.

In the meantime, if anybody knows how to remove a redfin like from facebook, please share. I've tried everything from going to the listing page on redfin (there is no unlike option) and even contacting Redfin and the suggestions they have provided do not work.

I am now stuck with this random house on my profile page (and since I have no other likes posted, it totally stands out). I have no idea what will happen once the house sells!
