Yeah. I'm an Obama supporter and would NEVER vote for Romney but I thought Romney came across as much better prepared and energetic. He did back off from positions that seem illogical and extreme (basically lying since he espoused them before) but Obama did not effectively challenge him. Kept repeating the same lines instead of explaining in a different way, not clear and precise, didn't really answer the questions/challenges. I kept wishing Bill Clinton could have debated for him!

Romney sounded good to me. But he will get taken to the wood shed over his plans. He can't keep promising all of the good things and not explain how to pay for them.

Everyone would like low taxes, coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, etc. But his answer sounds like "we'll convene a blue ribbon commission" to come up with the hard money answers. We already HAD blue ribbon commissions.

Actually I thought Obama might be sick, like he was really tired and had the flu. He had that exhaustion achy thing going on. Romney is good actor. All shiny on the outside, no substance on the inside.

I think Romney drank his red bull then drank obama's red bull before Obama could get to it. Romney is like a really good car salesman.

The pundits all say Obama lost, and Romney did great. What I think is he backed down from some more extreme positions that people have interpreted him as staking out before ... So Romney tried to seem more human. But he didn't do well. As PP suggested, he seems plastic, in affect, smile, etc. And Obama did not do badly - he seemed polite and smart. I don't think either one was great, but I don't think we can say Obama totally lost....

To be ideologically plastic enough to win a general election in Massachusetts in 2002 and a GOP presidential primary in 2012 is tough.

That's funny. Because what I saw was rope a dope. Romney was overconfident and pretending to be a Democrat. Obama now knows his strategy and has two more debates to string him out.

On the other hand, he may not really want the job. But I doubt it.

I was glad to see that Obama lived up to his reputation as a great orator during the debate last night. It was good to see some of that old, “hope and change” on display.

Romney seemed so tired and timid. Kind of frightened actually. Like a deer caught in headlights...
