Hi, PP here -- I see that now, thanks! So, no one from the school has reached out to me about his "off the chart" math skills or any plan for enrichment, etc. I wonder if this is an unusual score in this area? Maybe lots of kids are above 99%? In other words -- does this matter?

Why do some schools start map m in 2nd grade? Our starts in 3rd. I would think there would be more uniformity.

I still can't make sense of this and I have my kid's scores. He is starting second grade and got 228 the first time and 232 the second time. Anyone know what you're supposed to look for or what it really means? Would the school explain it if we asked?

On a previous thread someone posted a link that had the national percentiles for both map r and map m. My child also told us his scores and I found that doc helpful. I don't have the link but you might have better luck looking at previous threads.

there are no cut scores wtih the map-m like there is for the map-r. it does inform teachers of strengths and areas of need in specific skills and concepts. the whole point in map tests is to measure growth over time and the map-r is also used as a predictor for the msa tests.

Our school doesn't send home the scores but teachers will go over or provide them if you ask. From the score DD told us, it seemed like one of her MAP scores (as a percentile) had dropped a bit from last time and we wanted to see if there might be anything she was struggling with. We asked her teacher and she had all DD's MAP scores from past years.

I think kids who play video games with score are probably better equipped to remember the map-m score

all I got out of my 2nd grader what his score ended in "25" . I guess this is what happens when you depend on a 7 year old for information!

My son told me his score. It flashes on the screen at the end of the test and then the teacher records the score. I know my son is telling me the correct score bc he was right about his map-r score (which teacher had emailed me about). Just curious about what his math score means.

Someone posted the link in the past. Just do a MAP search in this forum. Did your teacher send out MAP-M scores?

I found the numbers for map-r, but I can't find the map-m info online. I'm specifically interested in third grade scores.
