Cheese plate with bread or crackers. Quick and easy.

Hummus-it would go with the veggies or with bread (or get some pita).

Trader Joe's sells packs of nitrite- free mini hot dogs.

Super easy, quick and yummy.

2-4 cuts of filet mignon. Dice into bite sized cubes. Sprinkle with kosher salt and pepper.

A couple of pack of bacon. Pre-cook in microwave until cooked halfway (about 2-minutes). Cut slices in half.

Wrap a slice of bacon around a cube of filet and stab with a toothpick to hold the bacon in place.

Preheat oven to 375. Line a cookie tray with parchment paper. Place the filets on the tray evenly spaced.

Cook in oven for about 10 minutes.

Serve warm. Yummmm!

You can prepare this early in the day. Just store in an airtight container until you are ready to put in the oven.

Costco sells mini hot dogs in puff pastry. Agree with the pp that those are always the first to go.

mini frittatas (baked in mini cupcake tin), good for the vegetarians

pinwheel sandwiches

fresh fruit (if you serve grapes, cut the stems into little bunches--makes it easier than trying to hack off some)

Do you do fish? What about smoked salmon? Either take a tortilla and spread it with cream cheese, sprinkle on chopped onion and dill, then lay on pieces of smoke salmon. Cut into small slices and lay on a tray like little wheels. Or you can do squares of pumpernikel bread, spread on cream cheese and onion, then a small piece of smoked salmon with a little dill on top. MMMMM. I'm coming if you serve them. They're my favorites.

They sell mini hotdogs, but I usually just roll out puff pastry and line up hot dogs, roll them up and cut them and bake them. Make sure to cut before you bake

You get way more bang for your buck and you can use chicken/turkey dogs or nitrate free, etc...

People just like that stuff. I may go retro and get those Pillsbury triangles of dough...but where does one buy tiny hot dogs? Pigs in a blanket. TJ's makes some fancier ones with a parmesan puff pastry, but I've also used the cornbread ones from Target. They may not be elegant, but it's always the plate that gets emptied first.

You can also order(or get from TJs) a flatbread pizza with 'fancier' toppings and slice it/have it sliced so it's of finger food size. Z-Pizza makes tasty ones.

I like to put things on short wooden skewers. I've done canned marinated artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes with a piece of feta and an olive drizzled in olive oil, grape and a piece of blue cheese, melon balls with proscuitto (or even better are quartered figs with proscuitto if you can find figs), etc. You can be creative. Cut the cheese pieces large enough that they won't crumble when you stick it on the skewer.

It looks nice and is easy to eat.

Looking for ideas for appetizers to serve at our open house (the house warming type, not the house selling version!).

I'm thinking about some of those frozen puff pastries type appetizers from Trader Joes, a big plate of veggies and dip, and some mini-cupcakes (homemade). Maybe some brushetta or crostini? Other suggestions for stuff that's easy but appealing that would complement these things?

I want to avoid things that require utensils...just don't want to buy plastic forks.
