We know parents who have had success appealing MCPS decisions. These few families are incredibly savvy about bureaucracies, however. It came down to just never giving up. Find several channels and push on all of them, and don't take know for an answer until you get to the right place in Rockville administration building.

13:13 welcome to MoCo! We moved here recently. After some time here we decided MCPS student quality of life (everything you mentioned) was just too brutal for us. We are homeschooling.

PP here. Funny you should mention NEw England. Just moved from there to MoCo and am reeling at all the county bureaucracy and my sense that as a parent I'm not very relevant to my child's school. Despite being as involved as they'll allow me to be. There seems to be a lot less information coming from my children's teachers to home than we ever experienced in New England. And again, so many niggling rules about everything. And seemingly little time for lots of things I consider important for kids - like recess, rest and snack for K kids, (yes, we had that in New England!) science, field trips, so forth,.

Don't bother period. Dealt with many individuals at the Carver Center. They keep passing you from office to office, give you non-committal promises, then do nothing. Very unresponsive to concerns of parents in the county.

Ha! Do you think Starr composes his own tweets? I know the person who makes up the tweets and his name is not Starr.

Does anyone have any experience with Community Superintendent of the Down County Consortium (DCC)? We have some issues we want to escalate past the principal -- similar to complaints raised at Newport Mill Middle School. I saw her speak recently and she struck me as vapid.
I also saw that Dr. Sito Narcisse was brought in to help. But there is a horrible thread about him (in a different forum -- parent's coalition).
And Starr and Schiavino-Narvaez (and Narcisse) are very new to the system.
Sent a note to the Ombudsman on the MCPS website but received no reply.
