Oats, oats, oats. Love my oatmeal in the morning.

Also, broccoli and cauliflower.

Um idiot, she said mostly. Duh.

I limit my meat as well and often eat vegetarian. I also limit my refined carbs...However, eat a decent amount of steel oats, and a shitload of beans.

My bathroom is often frequent and soft. It think it is healthy when food runs through you pretty fast.

You either are vegetarian or not.

I didn't say I was a vegan. Geez, I didn't expect my wording to be so much of an issue. I eat chicken and fish very rarely, I realize that this does NOT make me a vegetarian (or even a 'mostly vegetarian,') and I eat eggs and dairy and I realize that I am not a vegan.

I hereby revise my original post title to read "question for anyone who eats food who also avoids breads, pastas, etc."

Sigh, fine, I shouldn't have said "mostly vegetarian." Since I only eat meat (i.e., chicken or fish) 1 to 3 times a week, I figured that counts as mostly vegetarian, but fine, I take it back. Not mostly vegetarian.

I addressed the question to vegetarians and vegans not because I am either of those, but because I figured their diets would be most similar to mine.

Guys-I don't think she's constipated, I think her problem is the opposite.

I don't eat what you do, but what when my daughter had these issues I give her lots of bananas.

Remove the meat and eat vegetables.

Breads and pastas do not help you go to the bathroom, so cutting them out will not constipate you. I think your constipation is probably the result of eating a high protein diet. As others have said, your diet is not vegan/vegetarian.

They call this one Atkins, not "vegan."

Try some Metamucil. Your diet sounds more "flexitarian," not vegetarian, but not the typical American diet either. You might try whole grain carbs - that way you still avoid the simple carbs. Make sure any bread says "natural" on the packaging.

Chicken and fish are not vegetarian. Or 'mostly' vegetarian.

I'm sorry if this is too personal a question, but what do you eat to help keep your bowel movements solid and shaped? I've just recently started a mostly vegetarian diet, and I have also cut out all breads, pastas, cereals, wheat products, etc. So my diet is mainly vegetables and fruits, hummus, nut butters, chicken, fish, eggs, and cheese. In the past, I think the breads and starches were the foods that keep things regular...lately, my BMs have been, er, messy (again, sorry). If you eat vegetarian or vegan and you also stay away from carbs, what do you eat to keep things firmed up? TIA.
