There is a stomach bug going around. I had it, and it sounds pretty much like you describe. So I wouldn't go into preschool with guns blazing acusing the teachers.

But I do understand your concern. Did you discuss with the preschol beforehand? Did they explain to you how they handle allergies? Are there ways they stop chidren from sharing food? If you don't feel good about how the school is handing it, and this is really what is behind your fear, then it would be appropriate to call the school and ask to have a conversation about how they are handling the allergies and what precautions they are taking. I wouldn't accuse them of anything, just mention that while what she has could be the flu, you wanted to just take this opportunity to make sure that she wasn't ingesting gluten or dairy at school.

Are you sure she didn't grab another kid's food?

Try getting her one of these...

Also, make sure she's not using regular playdough b/c it has wheat in it.

There is a stomach virus going around, at least in northern VA where I live. Did you ask her what she ate that day? How is she feeling now?

Your kid is old enough to learn to eat only the food you pack

Relax. Your kid will be fine. Double check with the teachers but assume it's a stomach bug.

Have you taken in medical documentation that your child has food allergies? Usually paperwork documenting food allergies gets taken more seriously than a parent talking about sensitivities. It may be seen more as likes / dislikes or family preferences / lifestyle.

OP seems a bit dramatic, so I am sure EVERYONE was well informed.

I would not send a gluten sensitive kid to preschool until much later- when she knows what she is supposed to eat.

If you have those stickers everywhere and it was the usual teachers in the classroom, then I would chalk it up to a stomach virus. Honestly, she isn't going to die and she isn't going to feel awful forever. Just calm down and try not to approach the teachers as if you are attacking them because you could very well be wrong about this.

Yeah, I'm not sure why you wouldn't also consider that it might well be a stomach virus. In terms of how to approach them, just say - she got sick yesterday and I'm wondering what she ate when she was here.

In otherwords, try to diffuse your emotional reaction and just deal with the facts. If they did, actually, veer off of her approved diet THEN you can get mad/raise hell.

How do you know that it is not just the stomach bug? Just ask the teachers if she ate anything different from what she is allowed to eat.

DD started pre-school a few weeks ago and I have those "gluten free" and "diary free" stickers all over her lunch box and lunch containers.

She's only 2.5yo so she doesn't know yet what she's allowed to eat and what hurts her. The school knows about her sensitivity and they're also a nut free school. Yesterday she came home from school with very little appetite, saying her tummy hurt and very very irritable. I thought she was tired and put her to sleep. She woke up from her nap with a massive diarrhea in her underwear and pooped numerous times since yesterday (yellow diarrhea like) when her normal is one huge poop at breakfast and one little one when she wakes up from her nap.

I'm sure they fed her something with either milk or gluten in it. How do I approach them? The only time she was away from me was in school so I know she didn't eat anything from her "no" list while under my watch. What do I even say to them?
