I live in Del ray now, but used to live in Old Town. I love Brabo and the Tasting Room, as well as, of course, Eve, Majestic, and Eammon's.

Virtue, by the same group, is a fun new beer pub/brunch foods place down by the water. For casual times, I love the Pita House (love! yay), and, in Del Ray, Evening Star. Vermillion is really good, also, and shouldn't be overlooked.

We live in Old Town too and I agree with PPs about Society Fair. Never tried the demo kitchen, but hear it's wonderful if you can make reservations 6 months in advance. Majestic is awesome if you can get a reservation. Hanks Oyster Bar is a really good, small dinner place too. Landini Brothers is decent Italian, but Brabo is the best by far. We like Grape and Bean too. It's more of a wine bar, but they have food there too.

I wouldn't rush to go for sandwiches at Society Fair. But I've been to dinner there several times - both off the regular menu and for the demo kitchen and those meals were fabulous.

Agreed. And the service is poor. We looked at our bill after we left, and had been double charged for one sandwich.

Society Fair is way overpriced for sub-par food. I have a hard time paying $15 for a sandwich that comes with no sides.

I really liked society fair...had great food, nice atmosphere, good service. Alternatively, Geranio's is a great date night restaurant and the food is amazing.

If you want something more casual and like sushi, go to Momo's on Queen and eat upstairs. Amazing sushi.

This is the OP, and I totally forgot about Brabo! And its right down the road. We actually stayed at the Lorraine one night when my mom was in town just to have a night away.

The bar at Eve is really a fun place to eat dinner. I also love Brabo and the Tasting Room on upper King.

I'm the 9.49 poster and I wouldn't eat at Society Fair either, esp on a date night. I like Majestic, but I've only been for Sunday Dinner, which was awesome. Place gets loud, which OP might not want. I like Vermillion.

You might be able to sit at the bar at Eve. They serve dinner there. Try to get there before 8 and you should be good.

Otherwise we often have drinks at Eve and then dinner at Landini or La Refuge.

My husband and I have a sitter tomorrow night. Seems it has been forever! We would like to have dinner in Old Town. Too late for reservations at Restaurant Eve. Any other suggestions from folks? We have been to Virtue, but are out of the loop as to what else is good now.
