LOL. Put a school with Herndon's balanced demographics and high test scores in DC, eastern MoCo, or Arlington and people would not stop talking about how wonderful the school was and how great the diversity is. But, since it's in western Fairfax, it doesn't have "the greatest reputation."
agreed. But, of course, this is the same board that regularly trashes schools in Fairfax that are not in of the top 5, yet consistently score higher than state and national averages in all the tests that people are so in love with.
Say it with me now - DEMOGRAPHICS. Pack a bunch of high income kids with highly educated parents into one place, you will likely get good test results. And it has VERY little to do with the quality of education or lack thereof.
But what do I know - I'm one of those little people who plans to happily plans to send my child to one of the "mediocre" FCPS HS's. So mediocre that it ranks in the top 15 in the entire state. Yeah, my neighborhood HS sucks ;P
