Oh yes! I would never wear something right from the store or put my child in it before washing it. That's just gross. How many people have touched it in the store, not to mention the plant where it was made/etc.

Yup. Something like socks I might let slide, but other items get washed. DS is currently ticked because his new pjs are not yet dried and he has to wear some of his existing pjs.

I wash all my clothes and all my kids clothes before wearing them. I grew up with this.

I wash everything but moreso because I like the smell of clean laundry, my mom never did this growing up.

+1. I didn't used to do this, until someone who worked in the fashion industry told me about how dirty the clothes get from factory to store.

I do. And I do it with my own clothes.

Mostly to wash the perfume/store smell out of them and to get rid of any excess dyes. And when ordering online and they show up folded up into bags, it helps them look nicer.

Yes, I do. The ones from the store may have some chemicals on them that they use to make them look nice and I hope to wash some of that out. The ones from the consignment store or yard sales may have been on the store floor or whatever. Also, my son is slightly allergic to some detergents and I try to wash out what others may have put in.

Nope. Unless I buy them some place like Old Navy where it's so clearly dirty. I order a lot of their clothes online and when they arrive they just seem so pristine... so I don't bother. I'm sure there are people who are horrified by that.

It is something we never did in my house growing up but depending on the benefits of doing this, I may start.
