It will be hard to set up play dates if the parents don't speak English and you don't speak Spanish. I find in my son's school that there are numerous Hispanic parents and even though my son would like play dates with the children, I will not be able to set that up.
Play dates. Give me a break. Is there a new law that kids can't leave the house and play with friends in the neighborhood? Drive around your own neighborhood between 4 and 6pm on a school day and tell me how many groups of kids who have chosen up sides to play football, kickball, basketball, or any other sport. How many kids do you see exploring the woods or making tree forts? Probably not too many because they are busy going on play dates.
