Subject: What proportion of your friends are the parents of your kids friends?
Although - more accurately - in the case of my closest friends, we met when the kids were young and our friendship brought the kids together, not the other way around.

That's a really tough question to answer. Of my closest friends, maybe half? Of more than acquantainces but not close friends, a third. Of the people with whom I spend the most time, right now, 75%. It's just easier.

About 50% or so. People move, the kids wind up at different middle/high schools and you drift apart, etc.

Not a lot of my close friends are, but many parents I am friendly with are. We have them to our home and have visited theirs and will help each other with child care. But we don't talk about highly personal matters or share secrets etc.

About two-thirds of my friends are parents of kids' friends and/or schoolmates. My other friends are in my knitting group. Most of my closest friends are from college, though.

Close friends with whom I share my secrets? Nearly none.
Friends to have a dinner with, or share the joys our children bring to us? Many.

Most of my friends are from work. And always have been.

I am curious to know what proportion of people's friends are parents of their children's friends, and how that changes as your kids grow older. We moved to the area when our kids were small, so most of our friendships were built around them. I am wondering how that will change as the kids grow older and find different friends.
