A BB cream is a multi-product meant to save you time and money by offering 3+ products in one. In most cases (check the box), it is a moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, color and foundation product. It has been big in Japan for a number of years and found its way here.

A little goes a long way. Less than a very small pea in size will do. If it feels greasy, settles in pores/lines or looks cakey, you've used way too much. It must also be blended much better - like a foundation. Don't treat it like a tinted moisturizer. You should not be able to see it after it is applied. You should just look like you have perfect skin.

So, is it sort of a combo primer/foundation? What is it supposed to do? Does it make your un-made-up skin look better over time, or is it basically a cover up?

Same for me. It looked good, at least for a few hours, but it feels waxy and heavy. And I think it made me break out.

Tinted moisturizer is NOT the same thing!! A pp said that it is.. you are incorrect.

Bb creams have much more to them than moisturizer. They are a primer. They offer much better light coverage. They cover any red spots I have. You're very uninformed if you think they are just the same.

How is it different than tinted moisturizer? I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer now.

I have the too faced one that I got at sephora and I love it! I'm not one to use heavy face makeup bc I don't need it but this stuff is light and evens out my skin tone nicely.

BB devotee. I have a lot of redness and blackheads though rarely breakout. Makes my face baby soft and looks great. I am one of the Dr. Jart fans though. My sister loves The Boscia (sp?) brand. I would go to Sephora and try them. They will give you a credit if you have to return it.

So far I don't like BB cremes at all. I tried a couple from Sephora (tried Dr. Jart which had high reviews), and a Laura Mercier which isn't bb cream, but tinted moisturizer which is basically the same thing.

I believe Dr. Jart's made me break out, and those pimples left scars, so I'm still dealing with it unless I reapply my makeup all the time. I'm now using the Laura Mercier and it's much better.

Since this experience, I've really become a believer in understanding the ingredients behind what we put on our faces. There is a lot of chemically-crap we slather on all the time. Goodguide.com is awesome for this.

My friend really likes Garnier's bb creme. I might give it a try next time I need to restock makeup.

PS... I know the "BB" concept came out of Asia and that it's really popular there.

I don't know, but I'm curious and definitely going to try one (maybe Garnier or L'Oreal) when the weather gets cooler. I'm not using it now because I walk a lot and know it will just sweat off. But I have high hopes for it (if it does what it says it does), so looking forward to incorporating it into my morning routine.

They are advertising relentlessly and I guess I'm more susceptible to advertising than I thought! Does this stuff work? My (dark) skin gets scarred at the drop of a hat and I still get acne or inflamed spots A LOT. My face is a mess! I have been using Clinique's dark spot corrector to some success but it is expensive and I'm not sure it is worth it. Any advice would be appreciated!
