Maybe its not date-night worthy but we like Rio Grande and it is good with kids. They also have outdoor seating, a kid-friendly menu, and good drinks.

Okay, I am not familiar with that area AT ALL so cannot be helpful with specifics. But DH and I eat out with our 1.5YO DD frequently.
Here is my very general suggestion: Try a sushi place. Look at the menu online if at all possible. Immediatly upon sitting down, order something that DD will eat, whether that's toro or cold soba is up to you.
Our DD loves the miso soup (waaay cooled down) I think bc the spoons are fun. She loves eating anything off of chopsticks and playing with the chopsticks. Anything with noodles. And DH and I get whatever sushi we feel like and share with DD if she's interested (1.5 is plenty old enough. Just go somewhere reputable).
We have one sushi place that we frequent and it is a consistent "DD can get through the meal without us having to rush" plan.

Oh wise DCUMers, I'd like to have a date night with DH, but -- BUT -- DD will be along, too (sitter fell through).

Location: Clarendon/Ballston/Courthouse
Cast of Characters: Me, DH, and an energetic but well-behaved 1.5 year old

Please suggest your favorite reasonably kid-friendly (but still worthy of a rare date night) restaurant. Preferably something kinda new (as DH and I haven't been able to try out nearly anything for almost 2 years). I was thinking something with outdoor seating? Or in a cute people-watching location (to help keep DD occupied).
