Try Ris. The food and sevice is great and the place has not really taken off yet. It will soon.

Blue duck is fancy but it is also in a hotel. Hotel restaurants always have their contingent of casually dressed travelers and kids. Great food though. I find Central to be more casual too, it's very noisy. Also good food though. 1789 is quiet and elegant, some find it outdated and stuffy.

I would suggest Citronelle, but they are closed for renovations. Also, if you want to drive a little, go to Inn at Little Washington, it's an experience of a lifetime!

I tend to think of Central as business/business casual since its more of a bistro.

DW is turning 35 in a few months. I want to make a reservation and take her to a restaurant in downtown DC where people actually dress up, look nice, enjoy a fine meal.

Recommendations? (we're open to almost all food types).
