David, yes. Beckham, no.

Depends on what you are going for. It does not sound like the name of a future president or supreme court justice, which is the test some of my friends use. It sounds like a soccer fan. Or someone who follows celebrity news too closely.

Personally, I hate it.

The kids on the playground will tease him. Hamburger. Hambone. And then your kid will hate his name. And while his contemporaries probably won't know who the famous soccer player is, the age group that will likely review his college applications and future resume will probably remember David Bekham...and they might think less of the kid (thinking perhaps he comes from a low-class family).

Dh knows that beckham's first name is David, right?

OP, I hope your last name doesn't coincide with any common first name, or your kid would be called Beckham Paul, or Beckham Ryan. People would be totally confused. Hilarity ensues.

Years ago, people thought Dylan was a weird name (think Bob Dylan). Now it's totally commonplace. I've just dated myself.

He doesn't get to choose. That is his choice. I have mine. And now we just need to decide which one will be picked I just thing it is a weird first name.

I like it. But if you hate it, you should get to veto. At our house naming was a 50/50 decision.

I don't like it, but it's not the worst name I've ever heard.
