How can AAP be in a trailer. Advanced learning like AAP can only occur in a suburban brick school classroom. Oh, my God.
What did Americans do when they were no bricks?

I am a high school teacher who teaches in a trailer and I actually like it. As someone posted above, the biggest issue is no running water so going to the bathroom is a challenge for both teachers and students. However, our trailers are temporary and I think some schools with more permanent trailers do having plumbing. It doesn't seem that loud and the classrooms are actually pretty nice and bright.

The biggest enrollment crunch locally on the horizon is in Arlington, not Fairfax, but I guess we're talking about Fairfax since the OP referred to AAP?

PP, are they substantially louder?

Springfield Estates Elem had both general and AAP 4th grade classes in trailers when we were there. Yes, they are louder than in-building classrooms.

So.. all regular 3rd grade classrooms are in the building, but all AAP 3rd grade classrooms are in the trailers?

The problem is that I have never seen a trailer classroom and honestly do not know what to expect. DC is coming from a Montessori school and like I said he will have an IEP. We are in the process of figuring out what accomadations he may need. If trailer classrooms are loud compared to regular classrooms, I need to know this.

The implication of the headline is off putting.

sure. They're fine. What is the problem? Just as nice as the regular classrooms except you have to walk into the main building to use the bathroom.

Not Haycock. Is this a ubiquitous occurrence? Is FCPS segregating the AAP students even further by placing them in trailers?

If it is Haycock, it's probably because the number of younger classrooms increased (there are five kindergarten classrooms this year).

My DC is a rising third grader in AAP. I was unable to make the open house (on vacation) and just found out that his classroom is in a trailer! Has anyone had a positive experience with a trailer classroom? I thought they reserved those spaces for band students and the like. DC will have an IEP and I am very concerned that the instrumental noise will be a distraction. Interestingly enough, his teacher had a classroom in the main building last year, but is now in a trailer this year.
