Rory is a nickname for Robert.

I've also only known boys named Rory.

The only girl I can't think of is ferret-faced Rory Gilmore, but I tend to assume that TV writers are stupid about names anyway.

It sounds very feminine, but I've only ever met boys with that name.

Rory is a girl's name, isn't it?

If other kids are going to tease your son, they'll come up with a way - even if it has nothing to do with his first name. I really wouldn't worry about it.

I think you are safe regardless and especially since I assume the name is for a boy. Sadly, "whore(y)" just isn't an insult unless you are a girl.

I have a 3 month old Son named Rory. I was more concerned with little kids being able to pronounce it than any possible ryhming/
teasing that could occur. So far every little kid, including his 3 year old sister and several 2 year old cousins have had no problem pronouncing it. But whatever you decide to name your baby don't share it in advance with anyone, someone will have a problem with any name you choose.

This. You'll drive yourself crazy if you try to figure out if every name can be teased. Don't pick something ridiculous (i think rory is aforable btw) and it'll be fine. I was called Krissy in grade school. Some boys would call me Kissy and make kissing sounds behind my back.

I know someone who named her son this. It is a very difficult name for little kids to pronounce. In fact, the boy said, "Wo-wee".

That's ridiculous. Of course not.
