I legally changed my name, but still go by Dr. MaidenName, but my credit card is in my married name. Interestingly, my work sends my paychecks to the maiden name. They use the name I chose - so all our insurance is under my maiden name...

The only problem is that I sometimes forget which name I used where... Was I dr. Maidenname at my hair place? Or Mrs. Married?

We have two kid's who use my DH last name.

I use my maiden name at work. I legally changed it after the kids were born. I have security clearances and I'm lucky that I'm able to continue to control my work email. However, I do legally sign off on stuff with my legal married name which can cause confusion. In hindsight, I wouldn't have legally changed my name for this reason. It works for me since my sphere my influence is small enough to address the confusion.

I hear this a lot. I'm grateful for a husband who is okay with my not changing my name as well, I guess... but only because I am grateful for my husband, period. I secretly don't understand how a woman could marry a man who wasn't okay with her keeping her name. Especially women I think of as relatively forward thinking.

I mean, everyone is different and I get the arguments for changing one's name, but I mean, c'mon, if I was engaged to a guy that wasn't okay with my keeping my name that engagement would be over quickly.

Never legally changed my name and I go by my maiden (legal) name at work. I have no desire to change it anytime soon (been married 9 years). I'm grateful for a hubby who is ok with that.

My name is officially changed to my married name, but I only use my maiden name at work. My official records there are in my married name (payroll, taxes, etc.) but my email address and everything else is in my maiden name.

I have never changed my name. Some people at my child's school call me Mrs. Husband's Name, but it really hasn't been an issue.

I love this. This is what my dad warned me might happen when I said I wasn't changing my last name (period) when I was married. My mother hadn't changed her name when she was married to him, either, and he knew from personal experience that my husband might- gasp!- be called by MY last name sometimes!

(In case it's not obvious, I rightly predicted I would be called by my husband's last name all the time. I got over it).

I do this, though I never legally changed my name - just use my married name around kids and friends and use my maiden (legal) name at work. DH gets Mr. MyMaidenName often at work functions, which is fine (and amusing) for both of us.

I did it too, and got an obnoxious call from my MIL while I was in labor asking why the hospital had me listed under my maiden name and would the kids have my name or dh?!

DW uses her maiden name at work. She's accomplished in her line of work so changing it wasn't a preference. My son has her maiden name as his middle name. The only issue is that I sometimes get called Mr. "her last name" when I'm at her professional functions.

I do this. It was pretty straight forward. Do you have any specific questions? I decided to legally change my name, so my paycheck comes to my married name, however my work ID and licensure are still in my maiden name. If the rules in my profession hadn't made that workable, I would have not changed it legally.

Yes, and it's a little annoying (health care and such HAS to be in the name you're emploed with) but I had been at work 11 years before getting married, so changing was just a pain. Overall, it's been fine.

Is it confusing? My married name would be a tough one and my maiden name is sooo easy. I talk to a lot of people in my line of work and can't imagine spelling my last name 7 zillion times a day.

Would like to have family name for my children though...
