That's it's more important to be pretty and charismatic than to be honest and in touch with reality? Yikes.
Didn't they do that in the last election? Photogenic family + good convention speech = Sarah Palin. She gave her candidate what a 10 point bump in the polls?

A practiced liar can always do well in the beginning.

Not voting for him either. I think he started off slow and had to clear his throat a lot but towards the end as the crowd got into it, he got his groove.

I think his speech was full of lies and half truths (and I didnt wait until MSNBC told me this, I thoughts this as I was watching on CSPAN) but it seems to me that the aim was to get the base excited so it was a success on those terms. As a speech to convince undecideds remains to be seen. It all depends if said person will see/care/notice that Ryans hands arent entirely clean of all the bad things he accused Obama of.

Bottom line. Solid speech for the base period. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Yes. Every one of his specific attacks is easily debunked with, you know, ACTUAL facts.

His speech was filled with such blatant, easily-checked lies. He started ramping up about Obama's cuts to Medicare and I thought, Oh no you are NOT going there....but he did! Shameful! And the sad part is how many people will believe him.

I didn't think it was that great. Rhetorically, I suppose it was effective in that it got a good reaction fromthe base. I still, however, have no idea how they think they are going to slash taxes, reduce the deficit, and leave Medicare and defense intact; Ryan's plan doesn't guarantee any level of funding for Medicare at all inthe future, and Romney's plan is a lot of handwaving.

He tossed out a few numbers, most of which have already been discredited by Factchecker. Otherwise the speech was all over the place.

Oh, plus the fact that the Republicans, including Ryan, seem to think that rapists get to decide how many children a woman will have, and yet he believes in Americans' freedom to choose their own path.
