There is a new show coming next week to TLC called Breaking Amish. I think Nat Geo is still running there version called Amish Out of Order or something of that nature. I think the TLC is more on Rumspringa (not 100% on spelling) in NYC.

Not all Amish do that. The most conservative Amish (Ohio) would look at the more liberal communities (like those in Lancaster County PA) and not even see them as Amish. There is as much difference between Ohio Amish and PA Amish as there is between PA Amish and you.

I know several people who were raised Amish but are now liberal (i.e. not plain-dressing) Mennonites.

They are allowed to leave when they become 19?, to see what life is like outside. It is up to them to return. I think most return and those who do not are shunned.

How would that even happen?
