with all due respect, the response to this request is exactly why a gifted child forum (or the like) would be so helpful. i feel like i'm not allowed to talk to other parents about my kid because he's super smart and very advanced. a good problem to have, to be sure, but if i mention that i'm worried about him being bored in K, or the books he's read, or the games plays, I get snide comments about how much we must drill him (we don't). it seems like it is perfectly appropriate to talk about special needs children, but not to talk about "special needs" kids.

the forum doesn't have to be limited to AAP, but could be more expansive.

Yes, but it gives the illusion that this is all people are interested in within FCPS and all of us have special snowflakes. I think it would be better that there would be a gifted forum thread. They could learn from each other and leave everyone else out of it. There's a special needs forum already.

The Maryland forum gets hardly any traffic compared to the Virginia forum, almost 10,000 fewer posts.

AAP or AAP related and Fairfax posts do dominate the VA forum. If you removed the Fairfax element then there would be almost no traffic. Arlington posts are just too few. Prince William County schools just skirt the edges of the DC metro area and don't provide much traffic either.

The easy thing to do is just skim over the titles and ignore anything that has AAP, Haycock, testing, gifted, LLIV etc in the title. It is not difficult to do that.

No! It will be more like the Maryland forum or the DC forum, with a range of topics. I sooooo want this to happen. I'm in VA public schools, but not FCPS, and while I know they are the biggest game in town, they aren't the only one, and I'm so sick of 90% of this forum being dominated by this one very narrow topic!
