I've hidden people with crazy every hour updates, but un-friended one due to political rants.

I un-friend ppl that I don't know well that friend requested me but make absolutely no effort to communicate with me. I feel that FB is a social network to get back in touch with old friends and possibly get to know someone you may have met a few times. I give a chance for that and then get creeped out if you made the effort to friend request me, are obviously active on it with your updates, etc and then never once make an effort, like, or anything for at least a year.

I unfriended someone who posted some joke about asking Gid to kill Obama. She was my freshman science teacher, so no big loss!

I unfriended this crazy girl who harassed me and several of our mutual friends about why I didn't invite her to my wedding after I hadn't seen or talked to her in over a year and we were never good friends to begin with (just part of the same social circle). Good riddance!

This is me. On all sides of the political spectrum. I've also unfriended people who constantly post idiotic/ignorant posts or who post about every mundane detail going on in their lives. Not just once a day, but several times a day. I knew one girl who would have to delete statuses off her profile or her entire wall would all be different statuses from one day. I loved facebook when it came out in college. I even liked it a couple of years out of college. Now I hate it. I rarely check it anymore because it seems it is always the same people posting the same crap day and and day out. The only reason I haven't deactivated is because our group of friends use it to plan events, vacations and to share pictures.

So OP you have specifically asked this former friend via email or phone to specifically hang out and she has flat out ignores you?

I unfriended an exboyfriend because my DH asked me to. It irritated me that he asked, but I didn't have anything to dude or protect with my ex.

Just hide the posts. I hide posts from people I knew in HS that I have nothing in common with (like a gang member who was in prison and a couple of very religious mormon women).

Unfriended my own sister....she is a bitch!! Seriously, we see each other, but I want her out of my personal life.

jesus christ, grow a pair and unfriend her. Or just quit facebook.

I un-friended someone on FB. Very long story, but the bottom line is that she burned her bridges, and I was one of the people on that bridge. I was very hurt, and reached out and got nothing but crickets. So I un-friended her. She has like 500 friends on FB, so I doubt she even noticed. Plus, she made it very clear that she wasn't interested in being friends with me. First time I've ever been dumped by a good friend, and the first time I've ever unfriended someone. Not really my style, but it seemed like a sensible thing to do. Not sure what her deal is, but I have a busy life and loads of wonderful and loyal friends, so I just let go.

In addition to hiding her posts, you could also tighten your privacy settings so she isn't privy to your business on FB without officially unfriending her. Perhaps it might make her take notice.

The middle ground is hiding her posts. That way, you're still officially friends (and you can always check on her wall and her photos, should you choose) but you don't have to see her updates.

I thought I was pretty good friends with a woman who'd been part of my extended social circle for several years. She's basically cut me off for reasons I don't understand - there was never any blow out or "issue" I was aware of. The last time I saw her at a brunch with our spouses (in February 2012) I thought we had a great time. But since then she's seemed uninterested in getting together and has flat out ignored e-mails I've sent inviting her to get together. Obviously, she is entitled not to like me or hang out with me, though I'm still not sure what has happened. However, I'm FB friends with her and it's hurtful to see her updates of get togethers with mutual friends and to feel cut off. I sort of want to unfriend her .... but that seems really drastic and silly. But at the same time I'm hurt by the continual reminders that she doesn't want to associate with me.

Just wondering if others have un-friended a FB friend for any reason. Does this situation warrant unfriending? Not sure she'd even notice, but don't want to be petty either.
