I buy mine at Gap, and I think they are called ankle (or something like that). I am also petite and they work for me.

I like Gap too. I actually just bought a nice pair at J Jill -- think they were called "authentic boot cut."

PP, most modern boot cuts have a much small flare than the boot cuts of yesterday. There are also "baby boot cut" jeans, which is what I like these days. I tried on an older pair of my boot cuts the other day (AG) and they really looked old school.
