It did a last minute turn, while I watched on TV right for us-and bam! We were in a house missing a roof and tornadoes wrecked the town. I hope they cancel it for safety of attendees.

I suppose . . .

Haiti is going to be full of corpses, cuba is next, probably a whole lot more trouble for florida.
And you think one convention is important?

Here's how it's important: I want to hear what the evangelicals decide is the sin of the Republican Party that caused God to send a hurricane their way.

If the convention is unimportant, then I think that says loads about the GOP.

This weather system is still a tropical storm. As Floridians will tell you, the "cone of uncertainty" will surely change. It's too early to tell where it will go or how strong it will be. I do more than my share to support organizations in Haiti. I still have a right to care about how it will affect American politics. Esp. since US presidents seem to have an even bigger effect on Haiti than hurricanes.

Any predictions for the convention?

It doesn't look like the center is going to hit Tampa, but it's hard to tell. I imagine that Mitt Romney does not relish the possibility that the convention will be interrupted by a hurricane and then the inevitable response. Which of course would involve the President flying in to declare it a federal disaster. Then again, we probably don't need a hurricane to know that.
