The one and only thing that works for me is disciplining myself to feel what I am feeling. When you head to the fridge, make yourself go to a nonfood area (a front porch rocker is mine) and feel/remember fully. You can write it down. There probably won't be magic revelations instantly, but you will learn to feel acute anxiety and let it pass, and you may get to the root of the issue.
Therapy is helpful, but it's once a week. You need something for in between.
FWIW, I did overcome emotional eating doing only this, and it was faster than I expected. A friend recommended "Women, Food and God" by Geneen Roth and I only read the first couple of chapters. It was a breakthrough.
