I see that but, I am talking about nuts and bolts stuff. If you want to bury a story, you release it on a Friday night. If you pick a VP who is known for his budget, what do you think the questions will be about?

I think he knows deep down inside that the positions he has to espouse to appeal to his base are mostly erroneous or simply outright falsifications. So the truth slips out much more often than would be desirable politically when he's unscripted.
The truth is that he's just a very rich guy who has moved on from making money to wanting to be president, as the next stage of a lifelong family ambition and because he has nothing better to do with his time. We know he does not speak from any great conviction: when he was young, at the age most people are likely to be deeply idealistic and committed, he had absolutely no interest in political or social issues and was single-mindedly focused on making as much money as possible. He wasn't event that committed to MA as a governor. It was just a stepping stone to the Presidency, and he didn't linger on very long.
So he just goes with the flow of the GOP political machine, hoping that it's going to get him into the White House, and often puts his foot in his mouth.

I think if I were obscenely rich and thought it would be cool to spend a few years in the White House I'd be willing to put up with all this nonsense too. (I do think it would be cool to live in the White House, but not for the price you have to pay).

Politics aside, the presidential race is a long interview. Romney just seems unprepared for things. It seems every other day, he paints himself into a corner. One or two things, fine its a long process, but it's almost every time with him....trip to London, the VP roll out(late Friday night??), Ryan's plan(for or against?), etc. His administration will look a lot like the way he runs this race. Given his history, Tampa may be interesting.

This is the point where I am supposed to pretend that I used to be a Romney supporter back in MA but I am not voting for him in this election. I'm outraged, enough is enough, blah blah. Obama. Now I will crawl back under my bridge.

As best I can tell, Mitt Romney's campaign is based on three things:

1) Lies, for example accusing Obama of removing work from welfare -- something every independent observer agrees is a false accusation;
2) Out of context quotes such as "you didn't build that"; and
3) Attacks on Obama for saying things Mitt also says.

In that third category, we have Mitt saying that big business is doing fine.

When Obama said the private sector is doing fine in reference to job creation, he was attacked mercilessly. Commercials were broadcast, DCUM threads were started (http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/240127.page), and FOX News filled days with its outrage. So, what do all of those who were horrified by Obama's remark have to say about Mitt?
