Red's Eats in Wiscasset. Done and done.

Native Mainer here. Definitely Red's Eats, but locally the best I've had was at Hank's (and I'm picky)

Freddy's is the only place in town where you will get a fresh lobster, plucked right from their own tanks.

Maine of course a no brainer for a lobster roll. The poster asked for local recommendations so we will have to make do,

That's okay. I know she asked about local lobster rolls. But my post also indicated that claw and knuckle meat are superior. Maybe a subsequent poster would pick up on that and make a local suggestion. And, who knows, maybe he/she will go to Maine one day. No harm in sharing the info. No-brainer, right?

Coastal Flats in NoVA does a pretty decent one. (I grew up in MA.)

I had a Red Hook roll about a year ago and thought it was too small. I was starving after. How does the Luke's roll compare in size to Red Hook? Thanks.

I have read good reviews for Hank's Oyster Bar's lobster rolls. Supposedly a better bang for your buck.

Speaking as a lobster roll fanatic, my two favorite in the area are:

Luke lobster (Bethesda and dc locations)
Red hook lobster pound (food truck)

Some passable/decent others are:
Kinkeads
Mussel Bar
Liberty Tavern
(but IMO too high a bread:lobster ratio, not as basic/classic and not as good, large hunks of lobster as the two above)

I have been craving lobster rolls. Where can I get a good one? I live in Fairfax County and would be willing to drive on a weekend, but during the week, the more local the better.
