That is fascinating! I can't believe they created a new test. It's kind of funny.

see that the website also recommends GMU for "other testing." Gee, wonder what that's all about?

Your kid can make up the test if he's out The testing window is 2 weeks long. Just the school test coordinator (usually the asst principal) and the teacher know.

Like the TJ admission process.

well that's a relief since that process results in the best public high school student body in the United States.

I hope it works out. Something had to be done. 25% of our school's second graders were found AAP eligible this year...up from about 10% 4 years ago at a steady increase. At least half of these kids were not in the top reading or math groups and will either have a tough time at the center or will drag the whole class down.

I am sure that FCPS has put a lot of thought and planning into this, reached a defensible conclusion using best practices and standards, and it will work out fine.

Like the TJ admission process.

The parents who couldn't help but prep for the cogat have cause Fairfax County to create an entirely new test without available prep materials.

I just looked at the FCPS website for information about testing for second graders for admission to the AAP program. The website lists a Fairfax Abilities Test scheduled for October 15-26, 2012. Does anyone know what this test is? I thought they administered the COGAT to second graders, no?
