Mindy Kaling's book--must funnier than Tina Fey

Another thumbs up for Sophie Kinsella for lighthearted fluff. Jennifer Weiner in the same category.

Jill Churchill if you want fluffy mysteries.

My go-to for fun, quick reading is this ridiculous series of mystery/crime novels about Florida by Tim Dorsey. I recommend Triggerfish Twist. My other one is any one of Vonnegut's novels because they're actually the perfect easy read. It's simple, straightforward and funny!

Agree with Shopaholic series/Sophie Kinsella rec. Also The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series. Bridget Jones' Diary (and the sequel). I had so much trouble concentrating my last few weeks of pregnancy. I'd even suggest re-reading some childhood favorites - Heidi or The Secret Garden or Nancy Drew or whatever - bc they will be easy and pleasant reads. GL!

Terrible suggestions - Grey is awful and Gone Girl isn't light. Try Elin Gildebrand-Love Season is good.

+1

I borrowed it from the library on CD to listen to in the car. She narrates it herself -- I loved it!!

Debbie McComber (sp?) and Erin Hilerbrand are also easy reads

Reading "A Fine Balance" now and it is great but not "light."

Trashier but personally recommended:
The Adults
Firefly Lane
Tumbleweeds
The Playdate (very suspenseful!)

I love the Shopaholic books, or anything by Sophie Kinsella...when I need brain candy.

Other books I like, but not sure if they are "light" enough:
Shanghai Girls
Books by Phillipa Gregory
Books by Maeve Binchy
Books by Marian Keyes (but not "This Charming Man"--did not like that one!)

Try Kristan Higgins. I just read a bunch of her books when I needed something light

Oh...and if you like Nora Roberts, you might like Amanda Quick

If you like mysteries and/or horses, Dick Francis is good. The narrator of the audio books is really good too.

Also, if you like audiobooks, try listening to Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. The books are huge, but when listened to they fly by!

I'm getting towards the end of bed rest and find that I can no longer concentrate on many of my books. I need something light to read now (during the day and when I'm up at night with insomnia and when I'm up at all hours of the night once the baby gets here. Normally, I read a wide range of books, but need some really light options for the next few weeks. I'm thinking something along the lines of the Something Borrowed/Something Blue books (although I haven't really liked her more recent books) and some of the Nora Roberts books (I liked the recent Bridal Quartet and the older ones about the 4 brothers living on the Eastern Short and the Irish Hearts, etc. ones). I read the first Hunger Games book, but didn't really like it enough to read the next two books (although I might if I can't come up with other ideas!). I also read the 50 Shades books earlier this summer, which sucked me in, but were pretty awful.

Any suggestions before I just start downloading random books that Amazon recommends?
