OP here. I'm about to pick either Moms in Motion or One on One Care -- anyone with any additional thoughts? I feel like this is such a big decision! Thanks to all who have contributed ideas so far. Again, we are in eastern Fairfax County, almost in Alexandria. We did get a list from the county but it is MANY pages long and not focused on kids (also includes places that only serve the elderly).

You should get a list of them from your county. We were using Best Care for awhile, but they are more focused in the eastern Fairfax region and didn't have great resource info in the local where I live (Loudoun). We switched to Moms in Motion earlier this year. I've been fairly pleased and most of the "facilitators" are actually moms of challenged kids themselves.

Thanks! OP here. I found a place called "Moms in Motion" that is in Front Royal but they say they have clients in Fairfax County (I am in eastern Fairfax County, about as close to Alexandria as you can get). Anyone heard of them?

One on one care is exceptional. Many of the agencies are a but shady, but they follow the letter of the law to a T.

It's my understanding that there are really only two options (I may be wrong). One in Richmond, and one in Arlington (the Endependence Center). It was recommended that we use the Endependence Center since they are local.

We are about to get approval to have my 11 year-old daughter on the Virginia EDCD waiver (I've had people telling me for years we should apply, but I did not want to think about my baby as "nursing home" ready!). We have some good people who have been helping us out so I want to use the waiver's consumer-directed option, rather than the agency-directed option, so I need to find a good agency that will take us on to adminster the program. Anyone using a consumer-directed agency that you would recommend (or any you would recommend against?). All help appreciated -- apologies if my terminology is a bit off, as this is all very new.
