My husband always backs in. He got into the habit when he drove a truck. It was way safer for him to pull back out again that way, but he parks quicker backwards than most people do forward and never needs a second shot or takes up two spots

I back in at our condo complex because there are several people who speed (way above the speed limit) through the neighborhood and this way I can see them coming before I pull out of my spot. I tend to also do the same thing at work in our parking garage for the same reason.
I do drive a bigger car, but can usually back in within 2-3 maneuvers total and be centered within the lines (pull up at angle to spot, back into spot, straighten if needed). Because I do it all the time I can back into a spot pretty quickly. If there are several cars behind me I either pull close to the side so they can pass me or I just pull in head first.
Not exactly sure what the difference is between backing into a spot and then driving forward when leaving it vs. pulling into a spot head-on and then backing up to get out of it...

But it's not. I always park WAYYYY faster than any of the people to back in. The spots are fairly small and they have to keep correcting themselves. From what I can tell there is absolutely nothing to be gained from this.

It's a big private parking lot. Anywhere between 50 and 70 cars park here in pretty narrow spots. I see them struggling to get in backwards because it's hard to see. It takes me like 3 seconds to park while some of them it takes 2 -3 minutes (I kid you not). I forgot to mention why this bothered me today specifically. I came home and tried to find a spot closest to the building. There were at least five cards who took up two spots so I had to go pretty far. That really annoys me.

I honestly don't know why people do this. It actually takes more time to get in the spot than it does to back out when you need to leave. Also, back in parkers are notoriously bad for not parking in properly (between the lines), and when a person parks in front first the rearview mirrirs are in the way. I moved to a new neighbrohood and EVERYONE backs in. WHY?????
