Can you elaborate? How majorly AMA? Is having a second at 41 a bad idea if i struggle with fatigue already?

38 for first, 47 for last. No, not a bad idea. My kids definitely keep me young and being older.

I exercise HARD 5-6 times per week. Hasn't really affected me much, since I was always a light sleeper. Being in great shape has helped me get through this stage so far. Having teenagers is tougher than menoupause. And having a 50-something year old DH is the worst -- they are grumpy all the time.

Regular exercise 5-6 xs per week, cardio and weight training and reduce your simple carb intake. When I don't exercise/workout less than 4xs per week and go easy on the carbs, my energy level is drastically reduced.

I have joked that I am living proof that God didn't quite intend for moms to have menopause and preschoolers at same time....but I survive. Just have to keep laughing and pushing through -- try hard when at work to concentrate all energy I have on most strategic things to do & when home, try to look deeply into DC's eyes & play with abandon too!

Before a chronic illness arose, I slept when possible, lowered house keeping standards, got DH to do more around the house, cut the unimportant 'stuff' that was taking time and/or energy that I no longer had.

If you're trying to be super-mom, wife, worker, neighbor, daughter, friend, etc. then you'll never get enough rest.

Good luck!

Crank up the air conditioning and put a box fan by your side of the bed.

Ambien. Don't take it ever night. And don't need it to fall asleep. But it is an asbolute godsend when I wake up in the middle of the night (usually when one of my three kids under 6 wakt me up), I fall right back asleep. Without it, I am up the rest of night.

Caffeine. And lots of bottled water. And chocolate covered espresso beans.

How do you find the energy to deal? After waking at least once/night with a hot flash- frequently twice- I barely feel rested enough to take care of myself, let alone make major decisions at work and care for a family! I am so curious about other women of a certain age ... ?
