Another vote for St. Camillus. It strikes me as very inclusive, focused on kindness and social justice, more liberal than others. I've liked some of the homilies. The music is fun too.

Are there any Jesuit churches in Montgomery County? We loved our Jesuit church in Baltimore and can't seem to find th right fit here. Thinking about going to Trinity in Georgetown, but that would be a short fix since we'll need either catholic school or ccd in a few years...

I do, but it is in Arlington so probably not helpful. However, we love Our Lady Queen of Peace. Not conservative at all

St. Elizabeth's (if you mean the one on Montrose Road) is super boring and there is no community to speak of. Not welcoming at all.
OP, are you absolutely committed to staying at a Catholic Church? Sounds like you don't support some of the tenets of the faith. Might be time to try an Episcopalian church -- we're more laid back, community-oriented, into service & social justice, but still have a traditional liturgy/worship experience. Good luck in your search.

St. John the Baptist is far from conservative.
Father Brault's pretty cool. So it's all good!

The movement of priests in July will change up many of the parishes. Its a little early to tell. I have liked the "feel" of St. Elizabeth's though we do not go there regularly.

Depending on what side of MoCo, st Camillus is very social justice focused.

I second the PP. Have been going to Blessed Sacrament in DC and it seems like a nice community.

I'm parish shopping in Montgomery county. My local parish is so super conservative and the priests are very boring and never say anything remotely uplifting or inspirational. I've enjoyed mass at other parishes in the past, but the cool priests usually are transferred to other areas while the long serving (and boring...and sometimes outright mean) priests seem to stick around. Does anyone love their church? Are there any local priests who actually try to inspire folks? I wish the nuns on the bus had their own church. I would totally be up for supporting their mission of advocating for social justice. Do any local churches even do that anymore? It seems like most churches around here are focused on abortion and gay marriage instead of doing God's work and pursuing social justice.
Lastly, I would prefer to hear responses from catholics with firsthand knowledge of local parishes. I don't want to debate the pros and cons of organized religion. Thanks.
