This is why U.S. should not permit dual citizenship.

Haha!! Is that why? Well then I guess tou won't like this: I was actually born in the US, moved to Canada when I was 2 years old. My parents and sisters are all Canadian, I'm the only one with dual citizenship.

I don't care how it happened. You can't hold an allegiance to more than one country. An adult should choose.

Well I guess it's too bad you don't make the rules 'eh?

Our Founders knew what they were doing when they required the President to be born here.

I am grateful to be an American. I believe this is a great country, but I disagree with many things it does. Then again, most other countries are worse. I am grateful for the freedom we have here and for the opportunities I have as a female and religious minority. I feel pride when I consider our great humanitarian acts abroad, and ashamed when I consider our less noble acts abroad, as well as our poverty and history of racism at home.

I enjoy watching Americans win, if they are good athletes who give their best performance and exhibit sportsmanship. But I am happy to recognize those qualities in athletes of other nations, too. I was moved by Gabby Douglas's performance. I was also moved by the performance of the young woman who competed for Saudi Arabia in judo. She didn't win, or even come close to it, but she blazed a trail for her country. Should I ignore her because she's not American? I dislike reflexive jingoism. I am proud of my country when it does things to be proud of.

No. I'm ashamed to be an American. So many people are going hungry and without medical care, while so many others are living in luxury. The public schools in low income neighborhoods suck. Where else can a kid graduate without knowing how to read? We have a long way to go

I am very proud to be an American. I love this country and what it stands for. You'd better believe when the National Anthem is played I am standing there, hand over my heart, and thanking God for the fact that I was blessed enough to be born here and spend my life here.

(This doesn't mean that I am always happy about the way things are being run...but the USA? Love it.)

I thought OP was referring to all the haterade around here for the American Olympic athletes (this guy's a jerk, that girl is fat etc), but I could be wrong.
