no experience with LT, but I've found principals to be open to conversation, "my DC is having trouble with friendships, and needs someone to help with kindness", "my DC is squirmy and needs someone to help with calmness", "my DC asks creative math questions, and needs someone to assist with inquiry", etc. Asking to avoid a "bad" teacher is not met with open ears.

Yes - schools need to balance gender, race and a bunch of factors that are extremely complex. PS3 less so, as personalities, friendships (or bad mixes!) are not known. Either way, it is best to steer clear of parental requests.

And, what you might get instead will be a blessing in disguise. Our PK teacher wasn't the person I'd have picked, but she was absolutely the right teacher for DD in retrospect. May be dumb luck on our part, but it puts my "manage everything" tendencies in perspective. Letting go does work.

Be careful what you ask for sometimes you get it and find out that it wasn't what you really thought it would be.

This thread is an invitation to rate particular teachers in a particular school.

Many schools don't let parents request teachers - it causes a mess and is not equitable. Not sure the policy at LT, but you may have very limited input.

Plenty of other threads name names be it teachers, principals, doctors, etc. It's part of what makes this board so helpful.

We are headed to ludlow Taylor in the fall for ps3 and I'm wondering if there are any preferred teachers there that I should request. Or maybe some I should try and avoid?
