Love Le Bernadin. I also think db Bistro Moderne is pretty good.

You beat me to these two, although I'm pretty sure reservations at Le Bernardin for a Saturday night eight days from now will be . . . difficult. And by difficult, I mean there's no way in hell.

And OP, I LOVED Ma Peche.

Ah. Maybe we will venture OUT of Theatre District for dinner that night then. Thank you for the suggestions!

If you're willing to go to Tribecca, Scalini Fedeli is one of the best Italian places for a nice occasion. We celebrated my parents wedding anniversary there, and it was one of the top 5 meals in my life.

Agree with PP that I'd go elsewhere in the city for dinner. NYC is so walkable. Not sure what your pricepoint may be, but I'm dying to go to the Modern, at 9 West 53rd, so very easily walkable from theatre district. http://www.themodernnyc.com/ Definitely pricey. For a lower priced meal, you can eat in the bar room rather than in the formal dining room.

If you feel like going on a nice long walk to the Upper West Side, I had a great meal years ago at Cesca at 164 West 75th. http://cescanyc.com/

What kind of food do you like and do you want to spend a lot? There are so many fabulous places in NYC. Happy anniversary!

These are a bit north of the Theatre District, but walking distance. We had fine meals at both places and while there were tourists, it wasn't the mad house Times Square was.

http://www.molyvos.com/. This is a Greek taverna.

http://www.trattoriadellarte.com/. A slightly gimmicky Italian place, but with a really great antipasto bar and solid entrees. Sit at the bar, the bartender has been there for decades.

As PPs have noted, nothing in the area is super great...there are a lot of tourist traps and chains....but these were finds for us.

Don't go to the Theater district to eat! It's for tourists, and you will find mediocre food at inflated prices.
If you must be within walking distance, Hell's Kitchen is a better bet. If you want places that are a little nicer, since it's your anniversary, you're better off with the E. or W. Village.

DH and I are going to New York City next weekend for an anniversary trip. Neither of us have been since we were teenagers. We are meeting friends for dinner at a restaurant in Little Italy on Friday but have no idea where to eat for Saturday night. We will be staying near the Theatre District, so does anyone have any good restaurant recs for that general area?
