I love Rockville (grew up there) and think it's a terrific place to live, but moving there will make both of your commutes bad (I am assuming you work in downtown SS). And 270 in the mornings is a NIGHTMARE.

What kind of diversity are you looking for? Different neighborhoods have different ethnic makeups. And what price range and type of house?

I also think the area near Rockville Town Center is your best bet. I'd stay away from the planned communities in Gaithersburg like Kentlands and Lakelands. You get almost no land and the houses are way overpriced for where you are.

Are you renting or buying? We are renting and looked EVERYWHERE and ultimately chose King Farm bc of prox to metro and amenities (playgrounds, pools and dog park) it was definitely further out than we wanted to be but it just made sense for our family.

The area near Rockville Town Center is popular. There are renovated Victorian style houses and a few craftsman style houses. We don't live there but like driving out to the restaurants, movies, and library.

I don't know the timing but on Rockville Pike where the old Silver Diner and ToysRus used to be they are converted the section to planned condominimums and courtyard community type area.

If being close to a metro isn't a need and you don't mind being farther west then the areas off Wootten Parkway look nice though probably less walkable and older neighborhoods rather than new planned community.

FallsGrove is a nice planned community with large houses (too big for the lots for my taste), townhouses, and condos connected to a park, community center with activities, restaurants, and Safeway. Its off Shady Grove right after route 29.

The area off Shady Grove between Pineymeeting house and route 29 is Travaille Gateway and Avalon something.

+1, though King Farm is lovely and it is what comes to mind for planned communities in Rville. King Farm is pretty much the same, unless you count rent vs own. :/

What about Manor Woods ...my ex lives there. Looks nice enough, and has a pool.

I don't really like King Farm....it's huge, so be careful where you live because some parts are nicer than others. Also, some is basically Gaithersburg. It really depends on where in Rockville. By "planned community" do you mean a development or an actual planned community?

Rockshire is nice. There are a lot of nice neighbords in and around it, also. It's in the Wooton school district. Some areas around it are in Rockville HS district.

where are some nice diverse neighborhoods in Rockville? Looking for planned neighborhoods with sidewalks.
