I actually thought the room was nicer than our Lodge room at Nemacolin (though we didn't find our room at Nemacolin bad or dumpy either, just a little more tired). At Nemacolin there are tons of different types of places to stay, tons to do, lots of restaurants. The Chesapeake Hyatt is more of a sit around the pool and look at the view sort of place. They are both nice and toddler friendly, it just depends on what type of vacation you are looking for.
Agree with this. The Hyatt is definitely not remotely dumpy. It is smaller/quieter than Nemacolin, but very nice and very comfortable. The main draws are the pools, golf, and boat-type activities. We've had a couple of very nice weekends there. I honestly don't know what there is to do in the surrounding area as we did not leave the resort. You can't go wrong with Nemacolin either. It just depends on what you are looking for.
