What's wrong with rainboots? Lots of kids in my child's K class wore them. It's a walk from drop off to the school, and nice to keep their feet dry.

Yes, save your money for later when they do care about name brands. I usually make my son wear something decent on the first day to take his photo (khaki shorts and sometimes a polo) but the rest of the year he wears athletic shorts/pants and long or short sleeved tee shirts.

Children in Kindergarten do not care what other children are wearing. School is not a fashion show.

This is all fine. You will see girls wearing this, and girls wearing shorts and tees and sandals the first warm weeks. Girls wear sweats too, a lot of jeans and tees.

What about girls? My DD, entering K, wears a lot of dresses and tights, dresses and leggings, swing tops and leggings. Some yoga pants, occasionally jeans (very occasionally). Most of her tops are not collared and a good number are T-shirt quality (even the swing tops).

You won't see polo shirts in a kindergarten class room. You will see what the others said.

He's fine... FYI - don't buy a lot of sweaters / sweatshirts if your school is like ours, its very warm in the classrooms in the winter. My kid never wears anything warmer than a long sleeve shirt.

DS wore long-sleeved or short-sleeved t-shirts and athletic pants all year long last year in K. I'm pretty sure that's what most of the kids usually wore.

I think on picture day I made him wear a polo.
