We have the cares harness, got it when my son was 2, still using it at 5. He is 42 inches and 35 lbs. We take his carseat with us, but it is easier to have a CARES harness on the plane than the hassle of a carseat. Car seat goes in the belly of the airplane.

We've done both car seat and CARES and our kid did better with the car seat since he was used to that. And it's possible to scoot down and out easily. Any toddler that wants to get out will be able to. You won't be able to sleep without worry.

We have one and used it for my two year old. It was easy to set up and we were very happy with it.

Yes. I really like ours. I wish there was something that could go between my DD's legs, but that is my only complaint. My last flight, our stewardess told me she likes the CARES harness and wished all parents used one.

For the height worry - don't worry about it. The thing is adjustable, and it isn't like a car seat, where the possibility of being in a survivable crash is realistic. If your plane crashes, whether or not your kid was an inch too tall for the CARES straps is not going to matter.

Used it for my twins. The height is adjustable. The strap slips over the back of the seat, so just make sure the top band is right height for shoulders. Plenty of length in strap for child that tall.

CARES is for 22-44 lbs. The potential problem is not the weight (kids weight about 34 lbs) but is the height -- it says up to 40 inches. Our 4 YO is 39 inches. Has anyone used it past 40 inches? What do you do if you are inbetween -- kids reach height but not weight?

I've used this on 3 or 4 flights since my son turned 2. I love it, especially when we don't need a car seat on the other end. It is extremely portable, and like PP said, has something of a psychological effect on a wiggly kid (although if they are determined, it's not hard for them to get out of it).

Are you sure you are right on the weight requirement? The minimum weight is 22 lbs (but you said your kids are small, right?).

Yes, I used it for my wiggly son between ages of 1 and 3. Kept him in his seat, and settled him mentally because he knew what to expect when he was wearing a seat belt. Just a note: they CAN get out, so it doesn't help for a kid who will unbuckle to get out and wreck havoc - the over the shoulder straps attach to the airplane seat belt, which can be opened by a small child.

We use them for our twin boys. We've used them since they could sit up, and I think they are great if you've got a car seat on the other side to use. Mine are passed between my sister's family and mine, but I know you can find them around.

yes, we've used it, and it worked well. i bought mine from ebay, but i know there are also people who rent them on ebay (and probably other sites too). a friend is borrowing mine right now.

Has anyone every used this product? We are flying for the first time with the kids, ages 3 and 4 and they are borderline on the height requirement and do not reach the weight requirement. We will not need car seats where we are going so curious to know of anyone has used this product in a similar situation? Kids are both petite so I am not really comfortable using the adult seat belts in an airplane.

Also, if anyone has these and wants to sell or rent please respond.
