I had a samsung fascinate and hated it. It was slow, the battery died so quickly I couldn't even really consider it a mobile phone, the apps never worked, etc. etc. It was a very happy day when I was able to get an upgrade to an iphone. Maybe the samsung galaxy is better but I would say just go for an iphone, although I'd wait another month for the iphone 5 and either get that one, or get an iphone 4s at a discount.

iPhone - it's very intuitive and easy to use.

Samsung/android allows the use of google maps and navigation. Also samsung phones have removeable internal storage. Apple phones do not use removeable storage. That and the way apple is trying to keep samsung products off the market is repugnant.

If I had to buy one today, I would probably go with one of the Samsung Galaxy phones(SIII, perhaps, I haven't looked too closely since I'm not in the market currently). I wouldn't buy an iPhone at the moment, since we aren't too far away from the release date for the iPhone 5 or whatever it will be called. Around that time, the 4s prices will drop, so you would either get it cheaper or a newer model, whichever you preferred. As far as capabilities, there's not much to really differentiate the current batch of smart phones from each other.(The overall differences are fairly minor, and they all work well) I would just go play with some in a store and see which you prefer.

I went from a blackberry to an iphone. No comparison. I adore it.

Just go straight to the iPhone 4s.

I was definitely one of those iPhone-owner-hates who thought people always jizzing over their iPhones were obnoxious. Then I had to go on a cross country flight with my 2 yo DD and it was right after the 4s came out, so the iPhone 4 was only $99. I bought one and can't see how I ever lived without it. It has games and flashcards for DD so if we wait for a table at a restaurant or the bill is taking awhile to come out, she's entertained. It's got the Weather app which is so useful when you're out and about. The Mapquest app is actually more accurate than my built in GPS in my car and I use it ALL the time. I can do mobile banking with my bank's app, edit pictures (and the iPhone camera is unbelievably good), post them to Instagram (my favorite app), post pictures directly to Facebook. The store will help you sync up your Gmail account and calendar so that when you open your calendar on your phone, you see exactly what's on your Gmail calendar and can get email right to your phone. I use the Kayak app to track my DH's flights and arrival times when he's traveling and it updates if a flight is delayed or anything. Really, it's a very useful phone and easy to use when you get it figured out. I HIGHLY recommend.

I'm trying to decide between the iphone and the new Samsung Galaxy... leaning towards Samsung, it's getting better reviews.

There's always the iPhone, but I'm an Android girl myself. Right now I have the Samsung Transform Ultra. It's an older model, only 3G but I like the physical keyboard. I get an upgrade before the end of the year and I'm leaning towards the HTC EVO.

I'm on Sprint. I've never had a smart phone before. I've only ever had a regular phone that can do calls, texts and photos (bad ones at that). I'm due for an upgrade and I am finding that I actually really do need the featurs of a smartphone now (I have for some time but have been resisting it). I realize I will have to upgrade my current plan and I am prepared for that. What I don't know is which phone(s) to look at. I do know that I'm not crazy about the samsung epic (my DH has it and I find it hard to deal with). I also don't really like the rumor touch (older phone I know). So, please give me phone brands/models to go and check out.
