Tee-hee! Good one, PP.

(Now waiting for the outraged poster who doesn't get the sarcasm . . .)

I just got done buying them at the Target in Gaithersburg (DD will be starting K in the fall). They are by a company called Ticonderoga. Target sells a 4-pack (annoying since only 6 were requested and all the rest of the amounts lined up perfectly with the packaging available!) that includes a sharpener. They were not in the special Back to School section, however, even though the sticker in the regular aisle, which is where I ultimately found them, indicated they were doubly located.

OP again. I saw that as well. Those pencils are just about $0.75 a piece. The fat pencils at the school box came 12 to a pack for $4.50. Those ended up about $0.38 a pencil. No way will she need 12 pencils for the school yr (I hope), but we will use a few at home as well. I might also give a few to a neighbor as well. I did not buy them from Target when I did the math on the cost.

I object to your using the word "fat" and am offended that you do so. Could you use oversized, big, or large instead?

Go to amazon

Better selection, better prices and faster service.

I have been buying more and more lately on line. even with shipping, I find prices and selection for so many things better. Given the lack of customer service lately in stores, this has become my alternative.

NP here.

I saw the fat Ticonderoga pencils last night at the Target in Gaithersburg/Rio. They were at the top right of the pencil area of school supplies. I never would have seen them if I had actually been trying to find them. (My DC is entering 3rd grade - we are long past the fat pencils.)

Try Target at Rio. Or go back to the Rockville store and look again/ask.

I have bought them at Target in Rockville. I think I purchased them last year before school started in August as well as in the middle of the school year. They were located in the general office supply aisle.

OP here. Target did not have fat pencils. In fact, the sales ppl looked at me like I had 3 heads just for asking that. Walmart is just to far to go (unless I'm going out that way), so I will try staples first.

They are usually found at Target, Walmart or Staples.

You should never have to go to a teacher's supply store to find items on a public school supply list.

My DD, entering K, needs to have the fat pencils. Are those sold pretty much everywhere or will I need to go to someplace like ABC 123 to find those? FWIW, I just got our school supplies list today and this is my first child entering school, so I have not really paid much attention to what places like Target has as of yet. Will I be able to find fat pencils at Target?

Thanks.
