there are a number of elementary schools in moco with 90-99% pass rates on all standardized tests. that doesn't tell you everything but it's one way to "rank" the schools.

by this measure (and i admit it's not necessarily the best way to rank school quality as this obviously doesn't measure teacher quality/qualifications, facilities, real learning) here are some of the schools that are "good."

I think most people use the MCPS web site:www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org Go to the "schools" tab and you'll find the "school-at-a-glance," which shows demographics, test scores, average class size, staff experience, special programs offered, etc, as well as Great Schools: http://www.greatschools.org/

And, of course, posting about their prospective school here.

i'm interested b/c we're going to be moving soon - we're currently westwood - and BCC, but have heard negative things in passing - and i just don't know how to better inform myself. my kids are currently in pre-school.
