Christ Episcopal School. Their new LIFT Program is going to be awesome. LIFT stands for Learning Integration for Tomorrow. No experimenting with students as the program is an umbrella over the existing, rigorous curriculum. It's a fundamental shift away from 'knowing' and gets the kids 'doing' by applying what they learn to real life situations in high-performance teams.

If you want your student sitting behind a desk memorizing the 50 state capitals or passages from a book, CES is not for you.

If you want your student to become an independent thinker who can apply knowledge to real-life situations and work in groups to solve programs, then CES IS for you.

Oh, and their Kindergarten Teacher is up for teacher of the year on the Rockville Patch. She Rocks!!!

Epworth Preschool and Kindergarten is fantastic. It's part of a church, though. It's on the Gaithersburg/Rockville line.

Thomas Jefferson Prep is a private pre-school - 8th grade, located in a church, but secular. It's Montessori inspired. It's in Gaithersburg, on Rt. 28/Darnestown Rd., very close to Rockville/North Potomac area. They are still enrolling.

Our child is going to Seneca Academy this year, which I also love (of course I'm biased). It's further up in Darnestown. We live in Rockville and it's about a 15 minute commute. Not sure if they have openings, but it's worth looking into.

The JCC in Rockville has a K program.

Try Winchester School, and don't let the Silver Spring address turn you away, it's about a minute from the Rockville border.

Beth Ami is starting one for next year. I believe Washington Hebrew has one too.

St. James Children's School in Potomac probably has K openings.

Are there any kindergarten programs in the Rockville/North Potomac area worth checking out? The program does not need to be religious, just not at a public school. Something off of a pre-k program is what I'm looking for but I'm not having much luck.
