Now, now. PP is absolutely right!

Vampires suck, too. Fortunately, like death panels, vampires are pure fiction.

That's how Patriot Act got passed as well. Most of them didn't read it. Now we get groped at airports and are seen as possible terrorists without cause.

Anyway, I like Obamacare, only because I know how much of a sausage grinder it was to pass even that much (my preference is for nationalized medicare. health care should not have profit motive, just like utility companies and criminal justice system, aka for-profit-prisons).

BTW, the only part of that penalty/tax is for the uninsured. Not really the demographic Republicans care about (unless they only care about uninsured millionaires who get penalized). Unless I'm missing something?

You are wrong , medical devices now have a 3% tax and consumers will have to pay for it because business won't lose in their profits. Also note that tax deductions and fsa have been reduced

Yeah, and as a result, medical costs will come down. No more buying needless Rx sunglasses in March to spend down an FSA.

Minor points compared to the possibility of simply having reasonably priced insurance if you have a pre-existing condition, etc.

OP -- the answer is, there are no uninsured Republicans. Once someone with health insurance loses their insurance or becomes sick and is dropped by their insurer, they become a Democrat.

Yes, that's what I thought. Unless the Republican is so wealthy that paying for health care out-of-pocket is not an issue, I can't imagine why someone would forego the opportunity to have health insurance for themselves, and especially for their children.

All I know is they want to keep the government out of Medicare. I know this because I saw this on Tea Party placards. I'm still waiting for a fuller explanation.

Not really. People dislike ACA but paradoxically they like the provisions in it. So reading the bill would improve its popularity.

They expect the Nanny State to take care of them. I think we should federally subsidize an ice floe for them.

Looks like Republicans are voting against "Obamacare." My question is: when Republicans (and their children) without health insurance get sick, injured, need ER treatment, etc., and can't afford treatment, what do they expect will/should happen to them?

The news outlets indicate that there is no alternative health care plan that Republicans have offered in lieu of Obamacare.

Can a Republican (or someone sympathetic to the Republican party) explain this to me?
