You wouldn't believe how many gluesticks they go through in MoCo K. We became our kindergarten teacher's glue stick supplier. No kidding.

They do a lot of cutting and pasting of pictures for stories, letters, counting objects, and sentences. Kids don't use the minimum amount to make things stick.

The crayons will probably be shared and replaced by box after box. Just go with it if you can afford it. I highly recommend Staples and Target at this time of the year for affordable options for all of the supplies.

DD is entering K this year and I just don't get some of the quantities her ES requested! 2 12-packs of glue sticks? 2 8-count boxes of jumbo crayons plus 2 16-count boxes of jumbo crayons plus 1 24-count box of regular crayons? I don't think DD has gone through that much glue or that many crayons during the last two years of full-day preschool, so am wondering exactly why she needs so much for K? The rest was pretty reasonable, although DD has been using regular crayons, pens and pencils for years, so I'm wondering if the jumbo/fat styles are being requested because not all kids will come in from preschool programs where they learned to use them? This is our first -- and last -- foray into K, so I'm at a loss for why they do what they do...

Our room parents reported mid-year on what supplies the teacher thought needed renewing. Seems like a good thing to ask about once the initial supplies have been in use for a while.

OP here. I just went through our K roundup materials and no list was provided. I just emailed the main office individual to find out. Thanks.

Our school distributed the list at Kindergarten orientation. Maybe give the office a call?

Does an elementary school send the school supplies list to incoming K'ers or should I be able to find it on their website? So far nothing on the website and no info about when something may be sent out. Sorry if the question is dumb. This is my first child in public school.
