A few years ago, our school used to give quantities (e.g., 12 glue sticks, 1 48-count box of crayons, etc.) But 2 years ago, they dropped the quantities to just be "glue sticks, crayons, etc." I heard it was due to economy concerns and some families just couldn't provide everything. Still, it would be nice to have a ballpark of how many they would like families to provide, esp. for the families who are willing to provide as much as possible.
DD is entering K this year and I just don't get some of the quantities her ES requested! 2 12-packs of glue sticks? 2 8-count boxes of jumbo crayons plus 2 16-count boxes of jumbo crayons plus 1 24-count box of regular crayons? I don't think DD has gone through that much glue or that many crayons during the last two years of full-day preschool, so am wondering exactly why she needs so much for K? The rest was pretty reasonable, although DD has been using regular crayons, pens and pencils for years, so I'm wondering if the jumbo/fat styles are being requested because not all kids will come in from preschool programs where they learned to use them? This is our first -- and last -- foray into K, so I'm at a loss for why they do what they do...
