For breakfast/brunch near the Inner Harbor, Miss Shirley's Cafe is excellent. The Black Olive is terrific. Second Helmand, authentic and delicious.

Tried going to the Cheesecake Factory at the Inner Harbor once around 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday and were told there was a 3 hour wait. I don't think so.

I had the same thought about Helmand, and then decided not to say anything because it's kind of in the middle of nowhere. But yummy!

I love Helmand too! And if you're driving it is only 5 minutes from the Inner Harbor, just head up Charles St.

Another vote for Fells Point (for the location) or Helmand (great little restaurant).

Why go there when you are in city so full of unique and excellent restaurants? It's one thing if you're in East Bumblefuck and all that's around is Applebees, Bertuccis, Macaroni Grills, IHOP's etc etc. Baltimore and DC are both great cities in which to eat out. If Mass Produced Mediocrity where no matter where you go there you are is your thing, that's fine I guess. But you're missing out, and probably overpaying while doing it to boot.

If your friend really wants to do the touristy thing you can walk around the Inner Harbor then take a Water Taxi over to Fells Point and eat. You really can't go wrong over there. You can also ride it over to Canton which also has lots of bars and restaurants.

I agree the Inner Harbor restaurants can be too touristy but if that's what she's set on, we went to Bubba Gump's recently with a large group and it was fine. Go at "off" hours; we went at about 3 in the afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner and had about a 20 min wait on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Little Italy IA another option - I like Sabatinos. And Amechis. Also, Vaccaro's for dessert.

My friend is coming to Baltimore from out of town this weekend and she wants to go out to dinner in the Inner Harbor. Any recs for something in that area?
